George R.R. Martin Says That The Winds of Winter is 75 Percent Complete

George R.R. Martin gives an update on The Winds of Winter and fans will be happy to hear this news.

The Song of Fire and Ice author said on a live stream with Random House that he is 75 percent done with the book. He went on to say that he doesn’t know when it will be completed and has given up on giving predictions.

George R.R. Martin Says The Winds of Winter Is 75 Percent Done

“It’s a big, big book,” said Martin. “It’s a challenging book. It’s probably going to be a larger book than any of the previous volumes in the series.

The Dance of Dragons and Storm of Swords were the two largest books in the series,” Martin said.” They were both about 1500 manuscript pages. I think this one is gonna be longer than that, by the time I’ve finished it.

“I think I’m about 3 quarters of the way done, maybe. But that’s not 100% done. So, I have to continue to work on it. “

“I’ve given up on making predictions [of when it will be finished]. Because people press me and press me, ‘when’s it gonna be done?’”

“I’ve never lied about these predictions… But I guess I overestimate my ability to get stuff done and underestimate the amount of interruptions.”

“One day it will be done. And then, it will come out. And then, the next day, someone will tweet me ‘When will we see A Dream of Spring!?’”

Martin has Been Busy With Other Projects

Martin has been busy with the recent HBO show House of the Dragon and the rumored Jon Snow show. He also published a book recently as well as work on Elden Ring. The guy stays busy but he is making time to finish the long-awaited The Winds of Winter book.

A Dance of Dragons, the prequel to The Winds of Winter was released in 2011. Fans have been waiting for more than a decade for the next installation in the series. It finally looks like we will get the book sooner than later. No timetable has been given but Martin is optimistic that it will come out in the near future.

Really? 75% done? Not going to wish my life away waiting on GRRM…If he truly respected his loyal readers, he would not keep them waiting ten plus years between books. Sorry, enough is enough.

His priority? It doesn’t take a goddamn genius to tell you you don’t start a thousand other projects when you’re supposed to be focused on the task at hand. Besides, no one gives a fuck about Winds Of Winter anymore. Ol’ Georgie has exhausted all the goodwill from his most loyal readers that were with him from the very beginning only to be pissed all over in service of HBO and the almighty dollar. George is about nothing but himself and his bank account these days.

Excessive verbiage!! This series would have been great with half the number of characters and the books would have been finished within a reasonable amount of time!!

Because of George I no longer will invest my time in a series that is not finished. As far as I am concerned HBO gave me all the closure I will get.
