Unlike previous years, I have been mostly consistent when it comes to reading books. Looking back at the books I have read, I have compiled a list of 7 books that I read this year that I loved. Find out which ones stood out the most!
Books I Read in 2023 That I Loved
While this list contains only 7 books, I definitely enjoyed a lot more than that. I browsed through the first half of the list and decided to pick the first seven that I liked. Making this list too long would take away the spotlight from novels that I feel like people should read and know about.
As of this article, I have read 48 books and should cross the 50 mark. I haven’t been able to do that for a while now. Getting back on track is a good feeling. But it mostly came down to finding novels to read that I couldn’t put down.
There were a few novels I read that I read more than halfway and I ended up giving up reading because I was not enjoying them. Life is too short to read books you don’t enjoy. You can see the full list below!
- Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons
- The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
- Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel
- Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice
- Mickey7 by Edward Ashton
- Among Thieves by M.J. Kuhn
- The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune
Vampire Novels

Two of novels on the list are vampire novels and that was intentional. I love zombie and vampire novels and sought them out when looking for new books to read. Carrion Comfort and Interview with the Vampire were both amazing books that I couldn’t put down. Reading Interview with the Vampire while flying to New Orleans was fitting as it takes place there.
New Books

Besides vampire novels, another goal of mine was to read new novels this year. As someone that covers books, I come across a lot of intriguing books and add them to my reading list and eventually get around to reading them. It also helped that I am a big fan of Emily St. John Mandel. And after reading The Midnight Library, I will also be reading novels written by him often.
Book Requests

And lastly, the third way I came across books to read was through requests. And I am glad I said yes to Among Thieves by M.J. Kuhn and The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. If you love heist novels, then Among Thieves is perfect for you. I have become a big fan of heist novels over the years.
Klune’s fantasy novel was such a feel-good story and I loved the fantasy world he created. I will be reading the sequel when it releases and can’t wait to see how he expands the fantasy world that he has created.
Conclusion
These are just 7 books that I read this year that I loved. I recommend all of them and I will be making a couple more lists like this of the novels I read and loved this year so be on the lookout for those. Happy reading!
