The Harry Potter Franchise will be getting a TV adaptation for the first time.
J.K Rowling’s novels will be made into a television show by HBO Max. On Wednesday, it was officially announced after months of rumors about the show getting a green light.
Harry Potter TV Series is Announced
The trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermoine will be making a return in “Boy Who Lived.” A new cast will be taking the helm.
“Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally,” Max said in a press release.

J.K Rowling to Serve as Executive Producer
Rowling will be serving as an executive producer on the show. She also gave a statement about the show after signing off on it.
“Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series.”
Harry Potter was first published in 1997 and since then has become one of the most popular franchises ever. With seven books in the series, eight movies, and a Broadway show, Harry Potter has thrived since then.
My Expectations for the Show
A TV show is going to complete the adaptation journey (is that a thing?). It sounds like the show is going to start from the beginning. The title could have been more creative but that line is synonymous with Harry Potter.
What I am looking forward to is a deeper look into Hogwarts. The novels focused more so on Harry and friends and their adventures. Now, we may get the possibility to focus on the school itself. And other characters that didn’t get enough spotlight.
The show is going to have ten seasons. Only time will tell how that will affect the pacing of the show and the main plot. With the novels completed and numerous spinoff novels, there is a lot of information available about multiple characters.
Conclusion
I expect the show to use every information available to create the best show possible. While many might think that to be very optimistic, I think HBO Max is going to give this show the Game of Thrones treatment because the hype behind it will be unlike anything else.
