The success of the It Ends With Us movie adaptation has opened the floodgates for other Colleen Hoover books to be adapted. Paramount wasted no time and bought the movie rights for Regretting You and this should only be the beginning.
The movie will be directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) and will star Allison Williams, Dave Franko, Mckenna Grace, and Mason Thames. That is a great cast and it shows that Paramount believes that this movie will do well. After the success of It Ends With Us, who can blame them?
The good news is that Colleen Hoover will be an executive producer. I am a big advocate for authors playing a big role in movie adaptations. These movies are for the fans of the books and should resemble the books as closely as possible.

The novel is about a horrible car accident that leads to the death of two family members. What follows are secrets being unearthed as the dirty laundry is exposed. Now, the family must look back and heal before they can move forward with their lives.
This trend was something that I predicted and knew that the success of the It Ends With Us movie would determine if her other books were also greenlit. The adaptation made over $310 million globally and showcased the power of a huge fanbase. The biggest difference going forward is that It Ends With Us was a huge novel and other adaptations most likely won’t see the same level of success.
With that said, I do think a good cast and a great director should be able to see success as most Hoover books were a hit with the fan base. Great marketing and word of mouth should guarantee the success of Regretting You.
Only a month after the release of It Ends With Us we saw another Hoover book being adapted. That is really fast and I can imagine most of Hoover’s books are being auctioned right now. She might make a $100 million this year just from that. Don’t be surprised to see her as the highest earning author of 2024!
