Welcome back to thisn week’s edition of the most read books of the Week on Goodreads. August has come and gone and this list has a new leader. Keep reading to see what books made this week’s list!
It has become a tradition to look at when the first male makes an appearance on this list and just like last week, it is the 23rd spot with All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker. Goodreads is dominated by younger readers that are mostly female and that is evident in this list.
This list covers the week ending on September 1 and is only based on United States readers. If you would like to see the data for the world, let us know below and we will post that but only if there is demand. You can check the full list below!

The Women Tops the List

After a month of dominating this list, It Ends with Us is finaly dethroned by The Women by Kristin Hannah. 2024 is truly the year of Hannah and it is nice seeing her have success over a long span of time. She deserves it and I am happy that many readers are discovering here for the first time.
In second place is Emily Henry’s Funny Story and I expect this novel to re,main in the top ten for the rest of the year. Henry is one of the biggest romance authors alive and her books tend to always trend until she releases another novel. That is called star power.
Another novel and author that are making noise are Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez. Also released in 2024, this novel has been charting high on the weekly list as well as the weekly bestseller list month in and month out. Jimenez’s novel is fun and I can see why readers love it and I do think Jimenez will become a fan favorite in the coming years.
Fourth Wing takes fourth place as the novel and the Empyrion series stays in the top ten. Rebecca Yarros is having a moment and with her next novel set to release in January 2025, she might just break the internet. Coming in fifth place is It Ends With Us as it starts to cool down.
Conclusion
That ends this week’s list of the most read books on Goodreads. What did you think of the list? How many of these novels have you read or plan to read? Let us know in the comments below!
