Welcome back to the latest edition of the most read books of the Week on Goodreads. August is coming to an end and yet, the list has changed very little since August started. A few books came and went but the big names are here for the long run. Keep reading to see what books made this week’s list!
As always, I love to see when the first male author first makes an appearance on this list. It has become a tradition at this point and not looking it up might bring bad luck as a result. I should have everyone guess what spot it is to make it interesting. The answer was 23 with All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker.
This list covers the week ending on August 25th and focuses on only the United States. I will be covering the list for the world later this week. As you can tell, this list is dominated by younger readers who are mostly female. It makes you wonder what this list would look like if it was dominated by mostly male readers. You can see the full list below!

It Ends With Us Tops the List

At this point, I am used to seeing It Ends with Us being the most read book of the week. The movie adaptation has helped and I do think in the next couple of weeks, this novel will be dethroned. It Starts with Us fell down to the 8th spot which is a big drop and should be out of the ten by next week.
In second place is The Women by Kristin Hannah as it sees another dominant week. The novel seems to always floating back to the top after dropping down the list. I do think this will be the best selling book of 2024 and can’t wait to see the official numbers. In third place is Emily Henry with Funny Story and just like Hannah, I expect Henry to stay near the top of the list form a good while.
There are multiple appearances by multiple authors on this list including Freida McFadden as readers are discovering her bibliography and have her as the next author to dominate the charts. Her next novel will surely be a mainstay in the charts. Other notable authors on the list include Sarah J. Mass and Rebecca Yarros who are dominating many lists with their series of romantasy novels.
Conclusion
That ends this week’s list of the most read books on Goodreads. What did you think of the list? How many of these novels have you read or plan to read? Let us know in the comments below!
