Fans of the Witcher aren’t the only ones angry about actor Henry Cavill leaving the Netflix show the Witcher after season three ends. Voice actor Doug Cockle plays Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher videogames and he is not happy about Cavill’s departure.
The Witcher Voice Actor is Sad the Henry Cavill is Leaving
“Well I think it’s really sad,” said Cockle in an interview with Eurogamer. “And there’s a lot of people speculating on the reasons why he’s decided to leave, but whatever the reason is, I think it is sad, because Henry, he did a fabulous job as Geralt of Rivia.”
Yes he did. Cavill is getting his flowers now that he won’t be playing the role. We expected him to play Cavill until the show finished but that will not be the case. Last month, Cavill announced his departure from the show after completing season three. He will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth going forward.

Fans Created a Petition After Henry Cavill Left
Fans were not excited about this news and have shown their displeasure across the internet. A petition was even launched to bring back the actor that has garnered over 200,000 signitures.
Unlike most fans, Cockle has met Cavill in person and has had discussions with him. They are both self-proclaimed superfans of both Andrzej Sapowski’s The Witcher novels and CD Projekt Red’s videogame series. Cavill invited Cockle to the premier of the show’s first season.
Everyone is wondering how the next actor will carry the flame of Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia. He gave the character an iconic look and demeanor that has been etched on our brains. The younger Hemsworth did audition for the role in 2018 and is a fan of the show.
Cockle feels for Hemsworth and knows that there is a lot of pressure on him. “I feel for him, man,” he says. “Because I don’t know that I’ve seen a lot of Liam’s work […] but it’s an impossible position. Because as an actor, you don’t want to turn an opportunity like that down, but at the same time, he’s stepping into some big shoes, you know.”
Conclusion
We won’t know for a while how Hemsworth does as Geralt because it will be three years minimum until the fourth season comes out. Netflix has not done anything to alleviate the worries everyone seems to have. Henry Cavill may be gone but he is going to be missed by his fans and people that have worked on the Witcher throughout the years such as Doug Cockle.
We’ll have to see if there actually IS a season 4. I’m not real confidant of Netflix anymore…
He can get behind me on the sadness train then!
Not sure there is anyone that is happy about this news
