Neil Gaiman comes after Elon Musk after Musk critiques The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. And Gaiman does not hold back.
It all started when Musk hopped on Twitter and tweeted “Tolkien is turning in his grave.” A second tweet followed that said “Almost every male character so far is a coward, a jerk or both. Only Galadriel is brave, smart and nice.”

Neil Gaiman Responds to Elon Musk’s Tweets
Gaiman saw the tweet and responded with his own tweet “Elon Musk doesn’t come to me for advice on how to fail to buy Twitter, and I don’t go to him for film, TV or literature criticism.”
Ouch. That one has got to sting. Musk has recently been in the news for trying to buy Twitter only to recant months later. Twitter sued him for going back on the deal.

The response by Gaiman is epic and Musk is going to be bitter about that for a while. The founder of Tesla has been feuding with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. While Musk doesn’t like Bezos, he doesn’t need to let his feud with Bezos affect his experience watching The Rings of Power.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Takes Over the Internet
Amazon’s latest show has been a massive hit and has been the talk of the internet the past couple of days. In the first 24 hours, it has been viewed globally over 25 million times. The show has had a lot of varying opinions on it but critically, it has gotten mostly positive reviews.
Some people decided to bomb the show with 1-star reviews which led to Amazon shutting down the reviews and reviewing them for three days to determine legit reviews. Expect other industries to copy this strategy as this has become common as of late.
Conclusion
What do you make of Gaiman’s response to Musk’s tweets? It was funny and Musk did have it coming for being biased because of who created the show. Let us know what you think in the comments below!
I personally thought it was funny. You could almost hear the mic drop as Neil walked away. I’m a fan of LOTR and enjoyed the rings of power. Who knows what Tolkien would have really thought about it anyway? He might have appreciated the effort.
Agreed. Yea, it’s hard to say what Tolkien would have thought of it. It’s pretty entertaining so far.
Visually stunning as well. I think its worth it just for the eye candy
Yep. Nothing like it
Gaiman has in the past couple of months had a couple great tweets calling out certain groups of people on their attacks on Rings of Power. It’s been great 🙂
Yea, I remember that. He is a great writer and it shows!
Very interesting. The fact Gaiman felt the urge to respond to Musk regarding a fantasy TV series based on Tolkien’s body of work for which he has no links to, speaks deeply of his passion for fantasy literature and their adaption to the screen. Being a prolific writer himself (as you know), he cares deeply to protecting the imagination and expressions of art. Both his “American Gods” on Prime Video and “Sandman” on Netflix are also worth checking out if you have not already. Great stuff!
I have tried watching American Gods but I wasn’t a fan of the early episodes and dropped it. I am excited about sandman and will be watching that in the near future
