I love seeing different types of reading lists and I came across the Seattle Times’ favorite books of 2024 and had to take a deep dive in to their picks!

Unlike the best books of 2024, this list has books released from previous years as well. Few people if any are only reading books released only released in 2024. We are all reading books from previous years that we have put off for years. You aren’t alone with your reading list that will take decades to get through.

And seeing this list by the staff of the Seattle Times’s shows us that they are also like us and reading books that have been on out for a while but haven’t got around to reading until now. This list has some amazing books, some that have gone under the radar that I loved and would recommend to everyone. You can see the full list below!

Seattle Time’s Favorite Books of 2024

As a fan of Kristin Hannah, I have loved that her latest novel The Women released in 2024 and was loved by everyone. And the success of her latest novel led to people discovering her other books. If you haven’t read a novel by her, then you need to do so right now because she is in a category of her own with her mastery of words.

Everyone is reading Rebecca Yarros latest novels Fourth Wing and Iron Flame and they live up to the hype. I enjoyed both of the novels and can’t wait to read the next book in the Empyrean series. The romantasy genre is having a moment and this series is pushing the genre in a new direction and helping fantasy novels dominate the charts.

This list is full of amazing books but the one I want to focus on is Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead. You should know Whitehead from his two Pulizter Prize awards, one of four authors to ever win it twice. Harlem Shuffle is a crime heist novel that takes you back to old New York and Colson makes you feel like you traveled back in time. I enjoyed this novel a lot and can’t wait to read the final book in the series.

That is all for this list and you should be able to find a few books to read from here. I love when publications share their favorite books and more publications should do this. Sometimes the best books we read aren’t the best books of the year and that is fine.
