It may feel like this list is a bit too early and I don’t disagree with that statement. But if we wait too long, then there will be just too many books to add to this list. And there are already a bunch of great books to choose from for this list already.

As a fan of mystery novels, I am always in search for the latest books to read. And with mystery books, it can be a hit or a miss. Usually, an interesting plot is all I need but great writing is always a plus.

Told through four perspectives, California Beat is about a cold murder case and four people tied together by the case. They want to catch the killer and bring the murder victim and their family justice. The novel builds on their relationships and their goal of finally closing the case that has been forgotten by many but not them.

The Fury

One of the most anticipated mystery and suspense novels of the year has to be The Fury by Alex Michaelides. His novel The Silent Patient is is already considered as one of the best thrillers ever written. And he picks up right where he left up with The Fury and a murder on an island that takes inspiration from Agatha Christie’s classic novel And Then There Were None. But Michaelides flips the script and tells the story in a way that is very seldomly done.

The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels

Every now and then, there comes a novel that decides to throw out the typical format for something different. And that is what Janice Hallett does in The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels. She presents the reader with various media formats and lets the reader play detective and solve the case involving a cut and a missing mother and daughter.
