Classics Dominate the List 

There are a bunch of classics on Martin’s list. The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien makes sense since it inspired Martin to write A Song of Ice and Fire. Seeing Watership Down by Richard Adams make the list is a welcoming sight. It is a beautiful story that many people forget falls under the fantasy genre.  

Other books on the list that are worth mentioning include A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, and A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. These are all great books that everyone should read at least once.
