Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Tops the Best-Selling List And No You Didn’t Read that Wrong

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the number one best-selling book of the week on USA TODAY’S Best Selling Books list.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Tops the Best-Selling List

You may be wondering if this is 2003 again and we wouldn’t blame you. Unfortunately, it is not. A special illustrated edition with art by Jim Kay and Neil Packer was released last week. No matter what year it is, a new version of Rowling’s books will easily top the chart.

This isn’t the only book Rowling has released this year. Last month, the best-selling author released the book “The Ink Black Heart” under the name Robert Galbraith which also topped the charts in its first week. The queen of writing has proven time and time again that she is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to selling books.

Harry Potter is Still Going Strong

The Harry Potter series has sold over 500 million copies and that number should increase with the illustrated release of the series. It has been over two decades since the first book was published and the interest for the books has not died down. Harry Potter has become ingrained in our culture and parents that grew up with the books want their children to also experience these magical books.

Rowling has been surrounded by controversy but that doesn’t seem to affect the sales of the books. At this point, it is best to treat Rowling and the books as two separate topics. Whatever Rowling has to say are her own opinions and the Harry Potter books have nothing to do with that.

Lots of Harry Potter Books

This book isn’t the only Harry Potter book that was released recently. Alan Rockman’s book “Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman,” was also released by the late actor who played Severus Snape in the movie adaption. We also received a memoir by Tom Felton, the actor who played Draco Malfoy, titled “Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard.”
