Mike Flanagan’s Carrie is now streaming on Prime Video. All eight episodes premiered on October 7, 2026, with Summer H. Howell as Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White. The series adapts Stephen King’s 1974 debut novel for a contemporary world of smartphones, social media and viral humiliation.

Carrie Release Date and Where to Watch
Amazon confirms that the complete eight-episode season is available on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. The episodes arrived together rather than on a weekly schedule.
The October 7 premiere is a past release date. Viewers can watch the complete first season now; there is no need to wait for additional weekly episodes.
What Is the Carrie TV Series About?
Carrie White has spent her life sheltered at home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret. After her father’s sudden death, she enters public high school and encounters a social world she has little preparation to navigate.
A bullying incident becomes a viral scandal as Carrie discovers telekinetic powers. The adaptation explores the choices made by classmates, parents and school staff as the community approaches catastrophe.
The modern setting changes how humiliation spreads. Cruelty can be recorded, replayed and shared beyond the people present when it happens. That gives King’s original concerns about isolation and collective responsibility a different reach.

Flanagan is the showrunner, writer and an executive producer, and directs four episodes. Stephen King also serves as an executive producer. Other episode directors include Kate Siegel, Axelle Carolyn, Kyra Sedgwick and Hiromi Kamata.
Is There an Official Carrie Trailer?
Yes. Prime Video released a full trailer before the premiere. It introduces Carrie’s arrival at school, her attempt to make friends, the recording of her locker-room humiliation and the development of her powers.
The trailer remains a useful introduction to the setting and tone, but the released episodes now provide the basis for assessing the adaptation’s changes. Promotional hints should no longer be treated as the limit of what is known.
How Does the Series Change Stephen King’s Book?
The series makes Carrie a homeschooled teenager entering public school after her father’s death. King’s novel instead begins with Carrie already embedded in a school community that has mistreated her for years.
Phones and social media extend the bullying beyond the locker room. The longer format also expands Margaret, Sue, Chris, Tommy and the school’s adults, while introducing Emaline, a new character whose role becomes increasingly important.

Why Did Stephen King Support the Changes?
In The National’s October 11 interview, Flanagan said King welcomed his proposed changes and contributed especially to the development of Emaline. King also offered ideas about the larger supernatural world surrounding Carrie.
That participation provides useful context for readers surprised by the adaptation’s departures. It establishes the author’s involvement in the creative approach, while leaving viewers free to judge how successfully the changes work.
Has Carrie Been Renewed for Season 2?
As of October 15, 2026, no official second-season renewal or season 2 release date has been announced in the sources checked for this update. Flanagan has discussed a possible continuation, but his plans and the first season’s open questions do not constitute a new episode order.

Is This a Remake of the 1976 Movie?
The series is a new adaptation of King’s novel. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film, the 2002 television movie and the 2013 film are separate interpretations. The Rage: Carrie 2 continues the 1976 film’s world rather than adapting a second Carrie novel.
