Have you been reading this month? With the new year finally here, now is the best time to get started if you haven’t already. And we have three amazing books that you should read. So keep reading to find out what they are!

The hardest part of constantly reading is finding new books to read. That is one of the reasons I created this website; to share books I loved and enjoyed with fellow book lovers. And in the past few weeks, I have read some of the best books that I have come across.

The three books I ended up choosing are three books that I loved and know my fellow readers will also enjoy. Two of the three book went on to win awards and the third book is an internationally beloved series. You can see the full list of the books below!

Three Books That You Should

The Berry Pickers

The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters
The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters

Amanda Peters debut novel The Berry Pickers was a beautifully written novel that everyone should pick up and read. The novel won numerous awards such as the 2024 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, the 2023 Barnes & Noble Discover Prize, and the 2024 Crime Writers of Canada Best Crime First Novel Award.

After reading the novel, I can say that all those awards are well deserved. A Mi’kmaq family from travels down from Nova Scotia to Maine to pick blueberries in the summer. One day, four-year-old Ruthie goes missing. Her family searches for her but never find her. The novel tells the story of Ruthie and her family and their lives after the kidnapping.

If it wasn’t for the other incredible books that I read, The Berry Picker would easily have been my favorite book of this year. This novel will easily by a top ten read and even a top five. If you need a novel to get you back into reading, then this is the one for you!

More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop

More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa

I am currently reading More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa, Eric Ozawa (translator) and I am enjoying it a lot. Japanese novels are unlike any other novels and unless you read one, you won’t understand what makes them fun to read.

More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop is an enjoyable story about a woman named Takako who loves visiting her uncle’s bookstore. The novel tells the story of the people nearby and focuses on relationships and overcoming trauma.

There are countless other Japanese books that I would recommend as an introduction to Japanese literature. But this novel is still a fantastic read and one that will open a new world for you. There is a whole new world of literature waiting to be explored as you read novels written from around the world.

Demon Copperhead

Pulitzer Prize winner
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and won the 2023 Women’s Prize for Fiction. This may be the best novel of 2023 and one that everyone should read. Demon Copperhead is a modern spin on the classic novel David Copperfield by Charles Dickens.

Kingsolver may have written my favorite read of this year and I will be surprised if another novel surpasses this. The writing, storytelling, and plot make this a wonderful read. So much happens and you feel all the pain and trauma that Demon grows though.

Tackling a classic novel is not easy but Kingsolver surpasses every expectation while telling a story that is important. Novels like these make me fall in love with reading all over again. If you have to read one book this year, I would recommend this novel!

Conclusion

These are the three books that you should read in 2025 to get you back into reading. Whether you read for fun or love books, you will enjoy these fantastic and beautifully written novels.

Two of these three books are modern classics in my opinion. The third one is an internationally popular novel that lives up to the hype. If you have a reading drought or are looking for amazing books to read, then these are ones to read. Until next time, happy reading!
