There are so many amazing sci-fi and fantasy novels to read that it will take years to get through them. That is why we have made a list of 8 sci-fi and fantasy books to read this month. Keep reading to find out what they are!

This title might be a little misleading because there isn’t a realistic chance that you will be able to read all of them in one month. It best, it will take at least two. The good thing about this list is that many of them are standalone novels or are short series.

What ultimately matters is that you have books to read and this list has some great titles. From classics to some of the best novels written in recent years, this list has it all. I know I will be revising many of these books when I have nothing new to read. You can see the full list below!

Must Read Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books

When you talk about sci-fi books that everyone needs to read, Dune is pretty high on the list. It is a fantastic sci-fi and fantasy series and the worldbuilding by Herbert makes this an amazing adventure. This series has six books and will take you more than a month to finish alone!

If you prefer something more gritty, then The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie is my recommendation. This style is less common and might not be for everyone. However, if you like lots of action and a fun Tolkien-style plot, then you will enjoy this a lot. This isn’t for the light hearted but it is very entertaining nonetheless.

Recently, Brandon Sanderson has risen to become one of the most popular fantasy authors over the past couple of decades. All his novels are incredible and he has many series that I loved. For this list, we chose the standalone novel Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. And while it does technically have a sequel, you don’t have to read both to understand what is going on.

A sci-fi novel novel and adventure novel that has received national recognition is Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. This novel has some of the best storytelling and has garnered a loyal following over the years. When so many people agree, you have to see what the hype is about and somehow Station Eleven surpasses all of it.

Choosing a novel from this list as my favorite might be impossible but if I had to, then I would choose Hyperion by Dan Simmons. The structure and plot of Hyperion is a feat that few authors could pull off and yet, Dan Simmons makes it look easy.

The storytelling, plot, characters, world building, and a cast of different characters should make this novel arduous but in fact, it all comes together for one of the best books that I have ever read.

Conclusion

That is all for this list of 8 sci-fi and fantasy books that you should read this month.
