The Los Angeles Book Festival took place on April 26 and April 27 and readers were asked what was one book that they would recommend to everyone. Keep reading to find out the one book that book lovers recommend in 2025!
I love book festivals and was able to attend one in New Orleans in March. Who doesn’t want to be surrounded by amazing books? If I knew that the Los Angeles Book Festival was taking place, I may have added it to my itinerary.
This festival has many popular authors and draw a ton of people this year. And Buzzfeed interviewed authors and fellow attendees to find out what is one book that they would recommend to everyone.
The picks are interesting and after seeing Twilight first on the list, I was a little worried but the list got better after that. It even had a bunch of classics as well as currently bestselling novels. You can see the full list below1
One Book That Book Lovers Recommend in 2025
- Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
- Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
- Finding Me by Viola Davis
- Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
- The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton
- The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz
- When God Was A Woman by Merlin Stone
- Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin
- Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari
- 12 Rules For Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordan B. Peterson
- Homegoing by Yaa Gyas
Good and a Questionable Pick

While I was surprised somebody thinks that everyone in the world should read Twilight (I wholeheartedly disagree) the list gets better from here on out. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros has been dominating the book charts and it is a novel that I enjoyed a lot and agree that everyone should read it.
As someone that loves reading classic novels, I was happy to see Frankenstein and Giovanni’s Room on the list. It is nice to know that there are readers that hold them in high regard even centuries after they were first published.
Overall, I think this list is fantastic and if I could add one book to this list, it would be To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It is a classic novel that everyone should read in my opinion. On a related note, I recently found out that Harper Lee and Terry Pratchett were both born on April 28 so happy belated birthday to them!
Conclusion
These are the books that fellow Los Angeles Book Festival attendees believe that everyone should read. Outside of Twilight, I think it is a great list of novels. I would definitely add a few more books but that’s another discussion for another day. What books do you think everyone should read? Let us know in the comments below!
