Welcome back to our coverage of Murderbot Episode reviews. Today, we will be reviewing the second episode so sit back and enjoy as we dive back into the world of Murderbot!
Murderbot Episode 2 Summary
After the events of episode 1, the team of PreservationAux wants to explore the parts of the map that haven’t been synced correctly. But they don’t know if they can trust Murderbot and decide to leave it behind. That leads to Dr. Mensah and Bharardwaj to traveling to investigate the area.
When Murderbot awakens, it realizes that part of the group has left to explore the missing area on the map. It is then summoned by Gurathin and they have an awkward exchange. Gurathin tells Murderbot that in his planet, A.I are considered sentient beings but here, Murderbot is intellectual property.
Dr. Mensah decided to explore alone and leaves Bharardwaj in the ship. She discovers something that she can’t believe and is assisted by Murderbot on her journey. Now, the group has to decide how to go forward and who to turn to on this planet.
Commentary
Episode 2 had some big revelations and shows us why PreservationAux can’t trust Murderbot. Gurathin’s interaction with Murderbot is a great scene and I don’t mind that it changed from the novel.
This scene and the upcoming episode raise the stakes and the threat that the group faces. I am excited for episode 3 and felt like this episode sets up the characters and the scenes well. Murderbot’s personality is starting to show but its sense of humor needs to utilized more going forward.
We learn a bit more about other type of Bots such as Comfort bots. The world building is being done well and isn’t overwhelming which is going to draw a lot viewers in. the action will pick up in episode 3 and I can’t wait to see Murderbot in action.
Conclusion
The second episode does its job of explaining the world of Murderbot well. We learn a lot about the characters and it sets up the third episode well. I imagine the next episode will be one of the highlights and can’t wait to see what takes place.
So far, I have been hooked and I am happy with the direction Apple TV has taken the show. They are staying true to the source material for the most part and that’s all you can ask for as a fan of the series.
