Hannah Brown’s Favorite Books
- People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
- The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
- Worthy by Jamie Kern Lima
- In Five Years by Rebecca Serle
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Brown has a solid list of favorite books and who can blame her for being a big fan of fellow romance authors. Emily Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation is a fantastic novel and one that is one many people’s list.
“There are so many amazing romance books out there, it’s really hard to choose which are my favorite,” Brown said. “I love a little spice, but I also love a story that makes me feel transported. Emily Henry’s flirty dialogue is just *chef’s kiss* and I always feel inspired, and a little swoony, when I read her books.”
Novels like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares helped Brown get into reading and even think about becoming an author.
“I read this young adult series when I was in middle school and I think it’s the first series that really made me imagine wanting to be an author someday too. Now that I think about it, maybe the friendships in this series subconsciously inspired the Core Four friendship in my two romance novels more than I realized — I just love a strong girl group!”
Sometimes we all need a pick me up and for Brown, the book she turns to is Worthy by Jamie Kern Lima.
“I am a huge fan of admirer of everything Jamie Kern Lima has accomplished throughout her career. I’ve struggled with not feeling ‘enough’ so many times in my life, and this book — It hit me right in the heart. Jamie doesn’t just tell you you’re worthy — she helps you believe it for yourself. If you’ve ever doubted your value or wondered if you belong, this book is a must-read. She’s empowering, she’s honest and she’s walking proof that believing in yourself can truly change your life.”
Brown’s list contains a lot of modern romance but even she knows who the queen of romance is.
“Even though I love contemporary romance and rom-com, I feel like I wouldn’t truly be able to write romance without having read the queen of romance, social manners and girlhood — Jane Austen. ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is one for the ages! (And for the record, I vote for the 2005 adaptation with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen — sorry, Colin Firth fans!)”
Besides Emily Henry, one of the other popular authors of thw 2020’s is Taylor Jenkins Reid and Brown is a big fan of hers as well.
“I am a huge Taylor Jenkins Reid fan, and this book has been a favorite of mine for a long time. The writing style is so unique and I was so impressed with how Taylor was able to juggle all the different elements that this book had to offer.”
