In San Antonio, there were over 9 million items checked out in 2024. Libraries are one of the best available free resources and people should take advantage of them.
San Antonians read all types of books and their list looks very similar to most popular lists. Like most of the world, they also can’t get over Fourth Wing and the emergence of romantasy novels. This subgenre is having a moment and nobody can escape it, not even San Antonio.
For children’s books, Harry Potter dominated the list with all three books being from the series. As a huge Harry Potter fan, I can’t even blame them. And when you realize that many of the people checking out the Harry Potter books are adults, it explains why it was so popular!
