Biography

What better way to start this article then to look at his semi-autobiographical book The Art of the Deal by Donald Trump and Tony Schwartz. In this book, Trump talks about his early business ventures, talking about his philosophy on negotiating and his success. The book was controversial and also a favorite among Trump supporters. Running for President

in 2014, Trump announced that he would be running for president as he came down the escaltor. And in The Making of a President 2016 by Roger Stone, Trump’s longtime advisor talsk about the campaign strategy and key moments from the presidential election. Many of Trump’s former advisors have ended up on bad terms with Trump but Stone was one friend that stuck by his side over the years.

Trump’s Presidency

After winning the 2016 presidential election, Trump became the 45th president of the United States. After four years as president, Trump was outed in 2020 for Joe Biden, the Democratic nomination and the Vice President of Barrack Obama. His four year presidency has had a lasting impact for good and bad and in Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House by Michael Wolff, the journalist gives us a view inside of Trump’s presidency, showcasing a lot of chaos and turmoil.

Many of Trump’s advisors turned to writing a book to make a profit and shared what happened during Trump’s presidency. One of those people was Former National Security Advisor Bolton with his book The Room Where It Happened and give readers an insider’s perspective of Trump’s foreign policy decisions which raised a lot of concerns about Trump’s leadership.

Threat to Democracy

Donald Trump’s one term as president will be discussed for years to come. January 6, 2021 will be written in many history books and has followed Trump for the past four years. The attack on the Capitol building by a mob of Trump supporters to overthrow the results of 2020 presidential election showcased the threat that Donald Trump is to democracy and many books have touched on that subject.

In Trumpocracy: The Corruption of the American Republic by David Frum, the author analyzes the dangers that Trump poses to how he undermines key democratic principles. Not respecting the results of a presedential election and having a peaceful transition of power are important principles that every president before Trump respected. But new laws had to be passed so that what happened on Jan 6 wouldn’t happen again.

The Story Goes On

Trump’s story is far from over and no matter what happens in the 2024 presedential election, he will continue to be the most polarizing figure in politics. The Republican party cannot move on from Trump because the base supports Trump so they have to get behind Trump whether they like it or not. And if Trump loses, he may run again in 2028.

These books are some of many that cover Trump’s legacy and we will be seeing many books about Trump in the coming years. From advisors to journalists, there are a lot of people that still have stories to write about Trump and they still won’t scratch the surface of who Trump really is.
