It is still hard to think about how fast 2023 came and went. This was a great year for books and saw a few new authors rise to popularity and become the talk of the book word. And today we will be looking at Amazon’s best selling books of 2023!

If we had to highlight 2023 with one book, then the first book that comes to mind is Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. She came out of nowhere with this romantasy novel and it was everywhere. The success of this novel led to Yarros releasing the second book in the Empyrean series, Iron Flame in the same year. And both books went on to do really well and shatter records.

I am a fan of books that have genuine success and not because of great marketing or because you are a famous celebrity. Two books on this list are in fact from celebrities unfortunately. Prince Harry and Britney Spears both released memoirs which will be forgotten in the near future and the books that were amazing hopefully get the spotlight they deserve.

Ultimately, many books on this list have established themselves as fan favorites and have mastered being on this list consistently. The top selling book of 2023 was released in 2018 and has sold over 20 million copies since then. Self help books do well on these lists and a bunch made it and have showcased the formula for longevity on these charts and the best way to sell books and make money for a long time. The Best Selling Books of 2023

Atomic Habbits was the best selling book of 2023 and it will be on the best selling list for this year. In fact, Atomic Habbits topped this chart in 2021 and was fifth in 2022. Some novels figure out the formula and this novel has cracked the code and will be a mainstay on this list for the next 20 years.

Half the books on this list are self help books and this trend will continue going forward as more authors and publishers try to recreate the success of Atomic Habits. But enough about this genre. The one author that started to make a name for herself and become a powerhouse when it came to selling books was Colleen Hoover. It Starts With Us came in at number nine and It Ends With Us came in at number 11.

In 2024, It Ends With Us is number one and It Starts With Us is currently at three. I’ll be covering this chart in the coming months but wanted to highlight just how amazing of a run Hoover is having with books released years ago. This is not an easy feat but Hoover is making it look easy as her books and book adaptations are surpassing everyone’s expectations.
