The Shining
If you are talking about horror novels, then Stephen King has to be mentioned. He has a long list of classic horror novels and when people debate which of your horror novels is the best of all time, then you know you are doing something right. We chose The Shining to start this list and this is a must read for every fan of horror novels.
Dracula

There are tons of vampire novels and some of them are fun reads but nothing beats the classic Dracula by Bram Stoker. This is a novel that everyone knows aboiut but don’t always get around to reading. Now is the time to finally read it and learn about the original vampire novel that started the public’s infatuation with vampires.
Frankenstein
Another classic on this list that is a must read is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Even after two centuries, this novel is still a great read and very thought provoking. While it may not be as scary as most of the horror novels on this list, Shelley’s writing makes this an enjoyable read.
Interview with the Vampire

It is hard not to fill this list with vampire novels because they are very fascinating monsters. Every other has their own interpretations on Stoker’s vampires and Anne Rice goes in depth in her novel Interview with the Vampire. This is one of my favorite vampire novels and I loved Rice’s approach to vampires and the plot was fresh and enjoyable.
I Am Legend
Many people have heard of or watched the movie I Am Legend but few people have actually read the novel that inspired the movie. The novel by Richard Matheson is a mix of vampire and zombie novel and has inspired many books and has added to the vampire myth. This novel started the zombie apocalype trope that has been overdone over the decades with good and bad results.
Conclusion
Halloween is the best time to read horror novels as the weather turns cold and night comes early. Plus, you can get cozy and wrap a blanket and read a book from this list and lose yourself in a good book. What books from this list will you be reading? Let us know in the comments below!
