And as the top 20 most read books of the month of August points out, the list is dominated by female authors and the first male author doesn’t appear until the 30th spot.

The most read book of August was It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover. The resurgence of this novel on the charts is because of the movie adaptation being released. Many old and new readers have been reading both novels in the series and had led to her once again dominating the news cycle.

If it wasn’t for Hoover, then Freida McFadden would have topped the list and has five out of 20 weeks on this list. She has arrived and fans are loving her books. This reminds me of when Hoover first made a name for herself and all her books were selling as a result. McFadden has also arrived and her next release will be a mainstay on the charts.

Speaking of star power, Emily Henry comes in six place and has cemented herself as one of the biggest romance authors alive. Another author that is having a moment is The Women by Kristin Hannah, an incredible author who is finally becoming one of the biggest authors in the world.
