There are have tons of amazing new books that have been published over the past year. Books released in 2024 have been selling well but there are also books released years ago that are also still selling strong. Which is why we will be looking at the top ten best-selling books from July 2023 to July 2024.

I enjoy looking at charts and seeing what books are selling like hotcakes. It gives us an idea of what the public is reading and/or what books have mastered marketing done to a tee. Some of the books on the list are indicative of recent trends but there are also some fun surprises. You can see the full list below!

Unfortunately for us, the sales data for how many copies sold was not provided. But we do know the best-selling books so that’s something. As someone that loves numbers, that is unfortunate but we’ll just have to wait for the end of the year to see the data.

The Women

I don’t know about you but I am not surprised to see The Women by Kristin Hannah at the top of the list. I expect this trend to continue and The Women should be the best selling novel of 2024. Ever since it was published earlier this year, it has been topping the best selling books of the week list often. And as a huge Hannah fan, I am happy to see her have this kind of success because she is an amazing writer and more people should discover her books.

Dav Pilkey

Dog Man by Dav Pikley has a huge fanbase so this should also not come as a surprise to many. Pilkey has been dominating in sales for most of this decade and that trend should continue with every new book.

Romantasy Novels Dominate the List

In third place is the author that is having a moment in the spotlight. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas is one of three books to make this list by Mass. And right below her is Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros who also has one other book on the list. That means that five of the ten best selling books are romantasy novels.

The popularity of romantasy novels has taken off and these two authors have played a big role in that. I don’t expect many authors in this subgenre to have the same success but it has changed the fantasy genre and has introduced it to many new readers that normally wouldn’t have given it a chance.

Atomic Habits

Lastly, I want to talk about the success of Atomic Habits by James Clear. This self-help book has been a constant stay in the ten best selling books of the year every year. The book was released in 2018 and has sold over 20 million copies since then. This is the success that many books want to achieve but few ever do, selling millions of copies every year because your book is just that good. I believe it is a combination of word of mouth and great marketing that has made this book as successful as it has become.

Conclusion

Half of the list was dominated by romantasy novels and I expect these two authors to dominate this list for the next couple of years. And I can’t wait to see Dav Pilkey and James Clear show up every year. The Women and The Housemaids have overachieved and these authors should celebrate doing this achievement. Happy reading
