The 2024 year has been off to a great start with so many amazing new books to add to our reading list. If you are like me, then you are slowly getting through your reading list and also adding new books to the list constantly. Today, you will be adding some to your list as I list the must read books of 2024!

With so many books out there, it can become difficult to get a pulse on what everyone is reading. But after some research, we saw a bunch of titles that showed up often. Many of these novels are new and show up on many lists and as book club picks.

The first novel that we noticed was everywhere was The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. In this novel, Haig makes you wonder what would happen if you made different choices in life? This is a beautiful story that shows that every choice we make has consequences, often ones that we cannot always see.

Sometimes, an autobiography is so good that It becomes a mainstream success and that was the case with I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy. Like most people, the title grabs your attention but don’t judge the book until after you have read it. Only then will you understand the significance of the title and why everyone loves this autobiography.

A novel that came out nowhere to become a New York Times Best Seller is Fourth Wing (The Empyrean, #1) by Rebecca Yarros. The romantacy genre has been everywhere lately and Yarros has solidified her place near the top. If you wanted dragons in The Hunger Games, then this is your type of novel.

It has been two years since 2022 but some books released then are still trending. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin was one of the best books of the year and many new readers are still discovering this love story revolving around video games.

In Tommy Orange’s novel Wandering Stars, we are given something between a prequel and a sequel. The novel tells the story of a young survivor of the 19th-century massacre of Native Americans. We are told the fate of the Native Americans and what their descendants also went through and events that take place at the present including a shooting.

One of the most anticipated mystery and suspense novels of the year has to be The Fury by Alex Michaelides. His novel The Silent Patient is already considered as one of the best thrillers ever written. And he picks up right where he left up with The Fury and a murder on an island that takes inspiration from Agatha Christie’s classic novel And Then There Were None. But Michaelides flips the script and tells the story in a new way, something few authors could pull off.

We don’t know the biggest book of 2024 as of yet since it is too early to tell but the bestselling novel so far is The Women by Kristin Hannah. If you haven’t read any novels written by Hannah, then you are missing out because she is one of the most talented writers out there. And The Women picks right up and cements her as one of the best authors alive.

One of the biggest novels of 2023 was The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. It tells the story of a Jewish couple that hide a young black boy from social services and try to protect him from being a victim of the system. McBride is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors and few novels can make you feel as good as his can.

These are the must read books of 2024 and this is just the tip of the iceberg. The last few years have given us so many amazing books that it will take years to even get through those before we even start reading books released in 2024. But until then, these books should hold you over as experience for yourself why people love these novels.
