“It’s impossible to capture the richness of New York City in just one book, but the eleven finalists for the 2024 Gotham Book Prize all come pretty close,” said Gotham Book Prize co-founders Bradley Tusk and Howard Wolfson.
“We can’t wait to award the $50,000 prize to one of these books in the coming months, and for the first time we’ll be doing it alongside Queens Public Library—a great institution serving the most diverse place in the world. And while we are well past the lowest points of the pandemic, the Gotham Book Prize is a way to celebrate the creative minds who have bounced back and continued to tell the tale of one of the greatest stories in the world—the City of New York.”
I am a big fan of this award and have found some amazing books to read from the nominees and the winners. More places should make awards that celebrate certain locations. And yes, I know that most places don’t get used in books as much as New York City. But add local authors and you will have a bunch of books to choose from.
This is an award I will be following and can’t wait to see who wins this award!
