The Midnight Library

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is a beautiful story about coming to terms with your choices. It came out in 2022 and made several end-of-year lists for good reason. It is about regrets and how small choices can have a big impact on your life. The protagonist gets to live various lives, trying to find the one that will truly make her happy.
Where the Crawdads Sing
Many readers will not be surprised to see Where the Crawdads Sing on this list as it is one of the most popular historical fiction novel of the past decade. When it came out, this novel was everywhere and even two years later, it was still most sold novel since it was released. Few novels connect this strongly with readers. The novel did cause a controversy as readers dug up a similar case involving Owens and her stepson and a murder.
The Nightingale
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah is an amazingly well written novel about two sisters during WW2 and the choices they made during the Nazi’s occupation of France. This is a modern classic in my opinion and a must read for anyone that loves historical fiction novels. And yes, you will most likely read it in one sitting too.
The Silent Patient
The Silent Patient might have one of the best plot twists of a thriller novel that I recently read. It is about a woman who doesn’t talk after murdering her husband. Psychotherapist Theo Faber transfers to the Grove to help Alicia Berenson talk again and find out what actually happened on the day of the murder. This novel is in many best thriller of all time lists and only after reading it will you understand why!
Harry Potter Books
Lastly, the Harry Potter books also made the list and that isn’t much of a surprise. Those novels are impossible to put down and there is a reason why they are so popular. The question is whether anyone finished the last two books in the series in one sitting because they are pretty long. But for most of the books in the series, you can finish them in four hours or less.
Conclusion
These are the books that readers finished in 24 hours according to Goodreads. Many of these novels are modern classics and childhood favorites. How many of these books have you read?
