And yes, we know some people read a lot of books in their lives. But even those people tend to miss out on some amazing books. Most people, however, don’t read more than 20 books a year. Some people can’t make the commitment, others don’t have the time, and some people don’t enjoy reading novels that much.
This list is meant for a semi-average reader and many of these novels are classics or hidden gems that everyone should read at least once. There is no perfect reading list but there are many books that most book lovers and avid readers have read. You can see the full list below
63 Must Read Books of All Time
Books That Won Us Over
A novel that we loved is the dystopian novel Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. It is considered one of the best dystopian novels for good reason. Mandel is an excellent storyteller and her novels are original and have a bunch of twists that will keep you reading. This is a recent novel and one that I think deserves to be considered as one of the best novels of the 2010’s.
Not every book on the list is going to change your life. But all of these novels contain stories that may do that. For example, a novel like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is one of the funniest novels ever written. Some people may end up hating this sense of humor but many have loved it as well as the simple but fun plot.
Some of our surprise picks are novels such as The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, The Secret History by Donna Tartt, and Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. These are lesser-known novels that are incredible reads. We wanted to highlight recent novels (Yes, I know The Secret History isn’t a recent novel but compared to many classics, it is) and these are the ones that won our hearts.
That is all for our list of the 63 must read books of all time. How many of these books have you read? What novels should we include in our next list? Let us know in the comments below!
