The Neev Book Award 2023 Nominees are Announced 

The nominees for the Neev Book Award for children’s literature have been announced for 2023. Keep reading to find out the nominees and what the Neev Book Award is! 

Founded in 2018, the Neev Book Award was founded to “recognize outstanding writing that leads to a fuller understanding of India, Indian lives, and Indian stories.”  The winners of the award receive a certificate, trophy, and cash award of RS 1,00,000.

The award is divided into four different categories; Early Years, Emerging Readers, Junior Readers, and Young Adults. You can see the nominees below.

Early Years 

  • We are the Dancing Forest by Raj Shekhar, translated from the Hindi by Devashish Makhija, illustrated by Venkat Shyam 
  • My Street by Sadaf Siddique, illustrated by Habib Ali

Emerging Readers

Junior Readers 

  • The Ghost of Malabar by Soumya Ayer, illustrated by Isha Nagar 
  • The Train to Tanjore by Devika Rangachari  
  • Misfit Madhu, Divya Anand by illustrated by Vedushi Sinha 

 Young Adult 

  • The People of the Indus by Nikhil Gulati with Jonathan Mark Kenoyer, illustrated by Nikhil Gulati 
  • When Blackbirds Fly by Hannah Lalhlanpuii 
  • The Enchanted Cottage by Ruskin Bond, Sucharita Sengupta Suri
