Today, Oprah revealed her pick for her book club, Bittersweet by Susan Collins.
The nonfiction book dives into how we deal with sadness. About the book, Oprah said “This book has the power to transform the way you see your life and even the world. I have started to look at my own life in the world differently.”

Oprah Chooses Bittersweet For Her Book Club
On Amazon, the book summary reads as “Bittersweetness is a tendency to states of longing, poignancy, and sorrow; an acute awareness of passing time; and a curiously piercing joy at the beauty of the world. It recognizes that light and dark, birth and death—bitter and sweet—are forever paired.”
Susan Cain is a best-selling author and her book Quiet has been translated into 40 languages. She is also popular on TED Talk where her videos have garnered over 40 million views.
This is the 99th pick of Oprah’s Book Club and the first of 2023. Oprah will be joining Susan Cain at Oprah Daily on March 9 to talk about the book.
Susan Cain’s Quote About Her Book
Cain wrote this about her book:
“If we realize that all humans know—or will know—loss and suffering, we can turn toward each other. We’re never going to love or even like the bad things that happen to us, but the more we see it all as part of life, the more we can get to the richest form of happiness we can possibly know.”
