Actor Cillian Murphy has cemented himself as one of the great actors of our generation. With a slew of great movies and a hit TV show, Murphy has become an icon as a result. That made us wonder what books Murphy reads and likes and thus decided to look at Cillian Murphy’s ten favorite books!

Before becoming an actor, Murphy was set on the track to become a musician. But fate intervened and Murphy decided to pursue a career in acting. Now, Murphy is often seen playing villains or a tortured man and enjoys it. “I’m less interested in the good man’s life, I’m more interested in the conflicted man’s life or the contradictory man’s life,” said Murphy

The books in Murphy’s top ten are also deep and not for the faint of heart. You can see his ten favorite books below!

Cillian Murphy’s Ten Favorite Books

A Great Selection of Books

This is a solid list and the books speak volume about who Murphy is and what he values in life. There are a bunch of good books on the list and it is different than most people’s list which makes it a great way to discover new books.

I do enjoy seeing a classic like The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway on the list. It is a short reading that tells a beautiful story and conveys a message that stays with you long after you have finished the book. John O’Hara’s Appointment in Samarra is a book that I would like to get around to reading this year.

Conclusion

That concludes our list of Cillian Murphy’s ten favorite books. You can read more about it here and read commentary from Murphy as to why he selected those books. Happy reading!
