Shadow and Bone will be returning for a second season on March 16, 2023 on Netflix globally.
Each episode is said to have cost between $3,000,000 and $4,999,999 for a total of eight episode. That shows just how important Netflix thinks the show is and is going to be going forward.
The television show is based off of Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone Trilogy and the Six of Crows duology. Rarely is a show based on two different sets of books. Bardugo’s Grishaverse lets Netflix borrow from other books that take place in the same world. As a result, there have been some changes to make the two series work.
Season two will focus on the Siege and Storm novel, the second book in the Shadow and Bone Trilogy. I do hope that the show does add a bunch of stuff from other books because this was my least favorite book in the series. It sets up the third and final season of the book but that won’t work as well for the show.

Logline
Then again, it might as they can stretch out some scenes and build them out. There are a lot of epic moments in this book and they will make even better episodes.
Netflix’s logline of the show reads as: “The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world.
With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal.
Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her—or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.”
Conclusion
With a show being released in three months’ time, fans will be rejoicing. I expect this season two catapult this show to mainstream success because of the bigger budget. With the big battles that take place, that budget will come in handy.
