Today I will be reviewing Audrey Auden’s The Voice in All. It is a fantasy novel that has its own world-building that will get you hooked. It is book one of the The Artifex and the Muse series. Keep reading for a short summary and what we thought of the book.
The Voice in All Summary
Sixteen-year-old Ava is on a mission with her mother to steal pharmaka and use it to pay their way for passage. But the plans fall apart as Ava is exposed to pharmaka and has side effects that limits her abilities. She runs into her childhood friend whose memory has been altered and he doesn’t remember her. But he is exposed to pharmaka and he also has side effects that remind him of his forgotten childhood and Ava. Their encounter changes the course of Ava’s plan as she overcomes the side effects of the pharmaka.
This book gets right to the action from the first page and doesn’t slow down. There is a lot going on and author Audrey Auden perfectly explains it all. The fantasy world that Auden creates is rich in detail and she balances explaining her setting with the action taking place pretty well. The writing is great and I will admit, I was sucked in, eager to find out what happens next and really enjoyed the novel a lot.
I enjoyed the book a lot and was instantly hooked as it has a lot going for it. The novel starts off right in the middle of the action and it gets better and better. There aren’t too many slow moments and the new plot twists keep you turning the pages. The book also has music that accompanies it!
The world building by Auden is impressive as it is detailed and yet also fascinating. You want to know more about the island and the Voice and the only way to do that is by reading more. There is a lot of interest plots and you will be eager to learn more about the world Auden created.
If you like fantasy books and world building novels, then this is right up your alley. Auden is a talented writer and she has created an interesting world.
