George R.R. Martin Promises “the Best is Yet to Come” On House of the Dragon

George R.R. Martin says that “the best is yet to come” on the HBO show House of the Dragon.

With the first half of the season completed, the show will air the second half with some new characters. A time skip ten years into the future means that some of the cast has to be replaced. That doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the amazing job the young cast members did because Martin sure isn’t!

Amazing Acting

“Milly Alcock and Emily Carey were incredible as young Rhaenyra and young Alicent, were they not?,” Martin wrote on his blog.

They were indeed amazing. The acting by those two made me a fan of the show. A great script is only as great the actors. Milly Alcock and Emily Carey did a spectacular job and it is going to be sad not to see them anymore on the show. This will lead to them getting a boost in their acting career which means we will see them eventually in other projects.

What is Yet to Come?

So what it the best to come mean? Martin does not give any hints but it is safe to guess that epic battles will follow. Viserys Targaryen is going to die soon and a battle for the throne will inevitably happen. Rhaenrya has been chosen as the next ruler by the king but her stepmother has plans to raise her eldest son to the throne and make him king.

As both factions have dragons, the battles will be fierce as the kingdom is going to be divided as a result of this feud. Daemon Targaryen, the king’s brother is also a dragon rider and he can shift the tides depending on who he pledges his allegiance to.

Conclusion

Expect a big dragon versus dragon scene near the end as I expect the show to end on a high note. We have seen what HBO is capable of with big scale battles on Game of Thrones and this should be no different.
