Who knew that to sell more books, all you had to do was get Senator Ted Cruz to bash it? That is what happened to Antiracist Baby as it saw a boost in sales after he did this in a Senate hearing.

Ted Cruz Brings Books To Hearing to Make His Point

During the confirmation hearing of Supreme Court nominee judge Ketanji Brown was questioned by Ted Cruz. Instead of asking questions that mattered, Cruz decided to use this opportunity to add fuel to the fire that has lead to mass boom bans.

Cruz decided to ask Brown about her thoughts on critical race theory and brought along two books to use to prove his point. And using a kid’s book about how to tackle racism was his brilliant idea. This was Cruz’s question to Brown.

“Do you agree with this book that is being taught with kids that babies are racist?.”

Brown gave a well thought out response while ignoring Cruz’s bait of a question.

“I do not believe that any child should be made to feel as though they are racist, or though they are not valued, or though they are less than,” Jackson replied after a brief pause. “That they’re victims, that they’re oppressors. I don’t believe in any of that.”

What is the Point?

I can go on about how Cruz missed the point about the book or that this Senate hearing turned into a conservative versus liberal battleground. But that seems to be irrelevant. Politics is self-serving and is just one big game of chess with the end of goal of being reelected.

The good news that game from this moment was that people were outraged with Cruz’s attack on the novel and decided to buy it to get back at him. That made Antiracist Baby skyrocket to the top of the charts on Amazon.

Antiracist Baby

So what is Antiracist Baby by Ibram X. Kendi about? The short picture book introduces readers “to the concept and power of antiracism.” It goes on to mention kid-friendly steps that families can take to “build a more equitable world.” Not sure what part Ted Cruz has a problem with. We know what novel he isn’t carrying with him when he escapes to Cancun while Texas is freezing.

It is a great day when he country unites to face Cruz in his crusade of misinformation. He’ll be hesitant to pull this trick again. Have you bought or read the children’s novel?
