Before I dive into the novel Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline, I will warn you that there are going to be spoilers so if you want to avoid them, turn back now!
Ready Player Two Part 2
Chapter two begins with Wade telling us how rich he is. And he does not hold back. It gets tiring pretty fast and honestly that has been a lot of the novel so far. That along with the constant references to mainstream movies, songs, and games makes this novel feel like the plot isn’t even there. Which they haven’t even got into yet.
Wade tells us about how bad the world is doing and how he has taken steps to help people out. But mostly his focus is on people that he has come across or are in the situation he used to be. A lot to be desired from the protagonist.
Samantha, one of the four co owners of Oasis has become a philanthropist. She is trying to end world hunger and is the odd one out in the group. She was the only one against the ONI. The ONI will only make people live in the virtual reality even more and forget about the real world and the problems it’s facing. And that disagreement led to their breakup
I don’t know if I will be able to finish this novel. It is boring and the plot is barely there. It doesn’t help that the characters feel 2d and do not stand out. The writing is also not that good. I came across the worst sentence in this novel so far and I had to read it three times to make sure that I was not going crazy. Out of respect for your eyes and brain, I will not repeat that sentence. You are welcome.
