Amazon made headlines yesterday when they released their picks for the best books for the first half of the 2020 calendar. The list was chosen by Amazon’s editorial team.
Leading the pack is the novel The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Daré. It is a novel about ‘a young Nigerian woman who is trapped in a life of servitude but determined to fight for her dreams and choose her own future.’ It definitely sounds like a great book and I’ll be adding it to me reading list.
The prequel to The Hunger Games, The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes also made the list. As a fan of The Hunger Games, I am glad Suzanne Collins followed up with a great prequel. Not many authors can keep fans excited about a series that has ended. Some authors sell out while other authors like Collins still have a lot more to say.
Other books that made the list include Hidden Valley Road: Inside the Mind of An American by Robert Kolker, Deacon King Kong by James McBride, and Things in Jars by Jess Kidd. You can see the rest of the books that made the list here.

All of my book reviews are books I have read so recommending books I haven’t read is not easy for me. Things that stand out to me come out of the actual novel and not a blurb. With that said, the list defiantly looks worth checking out and I will add some of these books to my endless reading list!
