No. The Hunting Wives Season 2 continues Sophie and Margo’s story from the first season with an original script, according to Netflix. Season 1 adapted May Cobb’s 2021 novel The Hunting Wives. Season 2 premieres in the U.S. on Netflix on November 26, 2026.
That distinction matters if you’re deciding what to read before Thanksgiving. Cobb’s novel gives you a different version of the mystery you saw in Season 1. For the story that leads into Season 2, revisit the TV finale.
Which May Cobb Book Inspired The Hunting Wives?
The first season drew from The Hunting Wives, Cobb’s psychological thriller about Sophie O’Neill, who moves to a small Texas town with her husband and son. She’s drawn to Margot Banks and the women who meet up for late-night target practice. Getting invited in feels like a way out of her boredom, until a teenage girl turns up dead and Sophie’s proximity to the group makes her a suspect.
Cobb is still an executive producer on the show. Rebecca Cutter, who created the adaptation, returns as showrunner. Netflix says the new season opens with Sophie and Margo estranged, then puts them back in each other’s lives as old secrets and new enemies close in.
How the Season 1 Ending Set Up an Original Second Season
Spoilers for the novel and Season 1 follow.
The book and show give different answers to the same question. In the novel, Jill kills Abby and later kills Margot. In the series, Margo kills Abby, Jill dies, and Sophie learns what Margo did. The show also ends with Sophie killing Margo’s brother, Kyle, during a confrontation.
Keeping Margo alive changes what Sophie has to deal with after solving Abby’s murder. She still has to reckon with what Margo did, and now she has a death of her own to explain. Their relationship can carry a second season because the show leaves both women alive and gives each of them reasons to fear what the other might do.
Is All the Little Secrets a Sequel to The Hunting Wives?
All the Little Secrets is a sequel to Cobb’s All the Little Houses. Publisher Sourcebooks describes it as a standalone follow-up to that novel. If you’ve seen The Hunting Wives mentioned in its description, that’s a reference to Cobb’s earlier work.
