Amazon MGM Studios is developing a television adaptation of Melinda Leigh’s upcoming thriller The Courier, according to Deadline’s October 29 report. Blindspot creator Martin Gero is attached to write, showrun and executive produce the project.

For readers, there are two different timelines to follow: Leigh’s novel is scheduled for March 2, 2027, while the television adaptation has no announced premiere date. The project is in development, which does not guarantee that a finished series will reach the screen.

What Is The Courier About?

The novel follows Daisy, a diplomatic courier whose assignment becomes a fight for survival. After being framed for an attack connected to a stolen package, she must flee across Europe and discover what she was carrying—and why someone wanted her dead.

Leigh’s official book page introduces the story without revealing the package’s contents. That unanswered question gives the premise its appeal: Daisy has to solve the mystery while staying ahead of the people pursuing her.

Who Is Making The Courier TV Series?

According to Deadline’s report, the project originated from a concept by Gero, who will develop the adaptation through Quinn’s House.

Liz Pelletier and Sherryl Clark are attached as executive producers through Premeditated Productions, with Julie Jarmon serving as co-executive producer. Deadline reported that Amazon declined to comment.

Gero’s involvement is an interesting detail for book readers: the person behind the original concept is also attached to shape its television version. How closely the scripts will follow Leigh’s novel remains unknown.

Does The Courier Have a Cast or Release Date?

The available reporting does not announce a cast, filming schedule or television release date. Readers should treat the project as a development announcement rather than a show with a place on the streaming calendar.

The March 2027 date belongs to the book. It should not be used as an expected TV premiere.

Is The Courier Part of Melinda Leigh’s Other Series?

Leigh’s dedicated listing identifies The Courier as Book One in its own series. It is presented separately from her Bree Taggert and Morgan Dane books, making it a straightforward title for newcomers to put on their reading list.

For publication timing, the dedicated book page explicitly lists March 2, 2027. That is the date readers should use when planning their reading.

Why This Adaptation Is Worth Following

The most appealing part of the setup is the connection between Daisy’s job and the danger surrounding her. Delivering something safely becomes impossible when she does not know whom to trust or why the delivery matters.

For Books of Brilliance, the key question will be whether an adaptation keeps that uncertainty compelling alongside the pursuit. A changing European backdrop can create movement, but Daisy’s decisions will need to give that movement meaning.

For now, the novel offers the clearest next step for interested readers. Casting and production announcements would tell us much more about what its screen version might become.
