Today it’s easier than ever to see what people around the world are searching for online. And when it comes to books, search trends can reveal some surprising favorites. We now have the list of Google’s most searched books of 2025, and some of the titles might surprise you. Keep reading to see which books everyone was looking up this year!
If you asked me to guess the most searched books of 2025, I probably wouldn’t get many right. The one book I would have confidently guessed is Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros, since it was one of the biggest book releases of the year and part of the massively popular Empyrean series. Surprisingly though, it wasn’t the most searched book of the year.
That honor actually went to Regretting You by Colleen Hoover. At this point, it shouldn’t be too shocking. Colleen Hoover has dominated the book world for the past few years, and with Hollywood continuing to adapt her novels, her popularity doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. If things keep going this way, she could very well end up being one of the best-selling authors of the 2020s.
One of the things I love most about this list is how diverse it is. It includes recent bestselling novels, popular series, and even classic books that readers are rediscovering years after they were first published.
Google’s Most Searched Books of 2025
- Regretting You by Colleen Hoover
- Onyx Storm (The Empyrean, #3) by Rebecca Yarros
- Lights Out (Into Darkness, #1) by Navessa Allen
- The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
- The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
- Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
- It by Stephen King
- Animal Farm by George Orwell
- The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski
- Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney
Would you have guessed that Regretting You would take the top spot? Hoover’s influence on the publishing industry right now is hard to ignore. Her books constantly trend on social media, dominate bestseller lists, and continue to attract new readers every year.
As someone who loves classic literature, I was also happy to see older titles like Frankenstein, Animal Farm, and It still appearing on the list. It’s always a good sign when readers continue to search for and discover classic novels decades—or even centuries—after they were first published.
The data for this list covers searches from January 2025 through November 28, 2025. That timeline makes sense because most annual lists stop in late November or early December. Otherwise, they would have to wait until the beginning of the following year to release their rankings. Personally, I’d love to see an updated version of the list once the entire year’s data becomes available.
Conclusion
These are Google’s most searched books of 2025, and the results show just how varied readers’ interests can be. The list includes romance, fantasy, thrillers, classics, and even children’s books.
As a book lover, it can sometimes feel like fewer people are reading than they used to. But lists like this remind me that millions of people are still discovering and searching for great books every day. And hopefully, seeing others talk about and enjoy these stories will encourage even more people to pick up a book and start reading.
