Most of the time, I will be reading something packed with a lot of action but I will take a break and read a beautifully written novel that will have me crying. Novels like these remind us why books are beloved and that we aren’t alone.
This list has some of many amazing novels and depending on what you like, you can find more specific books. These novels range from various genres and different styles of reading. Some of them are not very popular but they are still amazing reads. You can see the full list below!

The Kite Runner

If you haven’t read The Kite Runner yet, then you need to do so right now. This should be the sign you were looking for to finally give it a read. It is a powerful novel and is considered one of the best books of the 21st century for a reason.
Khaled Hosseini’s writing is beautiful and it will make you feel every word on the page. He has established himself as an amazing writer and this is the novel that made him a global star. Any book by him is a great read. But this one is a must read in our opinion.
Beloved
Toni Morrison’s books are amazing and you will be moved by them. She has many classics under her belt that have won major awards. And one of our favorite books by her is Beloved, She won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993 and Beloved was one of the reasons why.
The novel is about Sethe, who was born a slave but escaped to Ohio. Even after 18 years, she is still not free. She is haunted by memories of Sweet Home where horrible things happened. And her new home is haunted by the ghost of her baby who died nameless.
A Man Called Ove
When I first picked up A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, I did not know that I would be going on a roller coaster of emotions. This beautifully written novel about an old man who wants to die after his wife passes away.
But he is always interrupted by his neighbors who have just moved next door and need help. And he always complies because he is a good neighbor. But his kind actions lead to him finding a purpose to live, even if might not realize it.
This novel is going to change the way you see the world around you. I had to stop reading after every couple of chapters and let the writing sink in. Every sentence is well written and it will make you rethink your life and your relationship with the people around you. That alone should tell you how amazing the novel is.
Flowers for Algernon

If you love sci-fi novels, then you are in for a treat. Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes is a novel that will make you cry and also make you appreciate sci-fi books. I did not think I would be reading one of the best sci-fi books when I picked up this book but I am glad that I did.
Keyes was a writer for Atlas Comics (they later became Marvel Comics) and this novel was a pitch for a comic book. Instead,he decided to save it for himself and eventually wrote it as a short story. He later expanded into a novel. And millions of readers are glad that Keyes did just that.
Conclusion
That is all for this list of books that will make you cry while reading them. There are classics as well as novels you may not have heard of such as Flowers for Algernon.
Or you may have thought that a novel was all hype such A Man Called Ove. I am here to tell you that these novels are some of the best books that I have read and worth reading. They will make you cry and make you thankful for amazing books out there still waiting to be read. Until next time, happy reading!
