This week, it seems like every library has released their list of the most checked out books of the year. That is why we will be looking at the Seattle Library’s most checked out books of 2025. Keep reading to see which books made their top ten list!

As you can expect, Seattle’s list of the most checked out books leans toward home bias. Every city, state, and country will gravitate towards local authors. Books such as Storybook Ending, On the Hippie Trail, and Wild in Seattle made the list.

That is interesting because I don’t think I saw much of that in the New York Public Library’s list of the most checked out books. I imagine it is because New York is too diverse but who knows. Outside of New York City, there is going to more support for local authors.

The list also includes some of the most popular books of this year and last year. Still, there were a bunch of books that didn’t cross my radar before. That is a big reason I love local lists. You can see the full list below!

Three Days in June was the most checked out physical book in Seattle in 2025. But the most overall checked out book was Onyx Storm. It is hard to compete against Onyx Storm and I am not surprised that it was almost checked out 5000 times.

The Women made the list and part of the reason may be because Kristin Hannah resides in Seattle. The people there love their local authors and the success that Hannah found is rare. Her book The Women was the bestselling book of 2024 so seeing it make this list isn’t much of a surprise.

Rebecca Yarros is having an incredible run this decade. She charted three books in the top ten list and fans cannot get enough. This list has a bunch of popular romantasy and romance novels.

Conclusion

These are the most checked out physical and ebooks in Seattle. Local authors and national bestsellers were some of the most checked out and read books. This is a great list and there are some books that I hadn’t see before that have piqued my interest.
