The Cruel Prince

The first novel on our list is The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. It is about a girl named Jude who wants to live at the High Court of Faerie despite the resentment by many of the people residing there. To earn her place at the Court, Jade must go against Prince Cardan who is known for being cruel. As the stakes increase, Jude realizes that her life hangs in the balance as she tries to save her sisters and the kingdom itself.

In A Broken Blade by Melissa Blair, the protagonist is a killer and the most talented spy in the kingdom. But when a mysterious figure known as the Shadow shows up and takes actions against the king, Keera is sent to hunt down the masked stranger. That leads her to crossing into the magical lands of the Fae and what she discovers there changes everything she thought she knew about the world.
Shadow and Bone

An author on this list that has a lot of success like Mass is Leigh Bardugo. She has cemented herself as a gifted storyteller and worldbnuilder. Her Grishaverse books are some of the most entertaining books out there and her Shadow and Bone series is a must read for fans fantasy novels.
The City of Brass
One of my favorite discoveries of the past decade has to be The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty. This is a beautiful fantasy novel about a girl that doesn’t fit in. Everything changes for Nahri when she encounters a djinn who takes her to the city where djinn live and learns who she really is. Follow her on an epic three-book adventure in a fantasy world unlike any other and see why Chakraborty is the next breakout fantasy writer!

There are two things I would like to mention:
1. Your writing is awesome and I would love to one day have a style as developed as yours. You’re a profesional and I love reading your articles.
2. The City of Brass is one of my favourite books of all time. It’s not as talked about as the other titles in your list and why is that? I do not know. I think it is the Marketing Machine
🙂
Thank you for your wonderful words. It is definitely for lack of marketing and i don’t think the publishing company believed it would do as well as it did.
