Sci-fi novels are one of the most underrated books out there. Like many people, I was skeptical of science fiction books before I picked up a sci-fi book. But after reading some of the most popular sci-fi books ever written, I knew I was hooked.

Lists like these are great ways to get readers to give this underrated genre a chance. Authors like Andy Weir and George Orwell will have readers looking at this genre differently. If you love books about time travel, clones, A.I., then you will be hooked. You can see the full list below!

The Most Read Science Fiction Books of 2025

Whenever a list is topped by a novel I haven’t read, then I know what I will be reading next. I Who Have Never Known Men didn’t come across my feed before today but better late than never. The book cover is beautiful and that alone will get many people to give it a chance.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Andy Weir is one of my favorite authors and I am going to read any book by him without a second thought. His novels are entertaining and he has become synonymous with modern sci-fi books. Project Hail Mary was a fantastic novel and I am not surprised to see it this high on the list.

If you haven’t read Animal Farm, then you need to do it as soon as you can. George Orwell is must read sci-fi in my opinion. Orbital is going to my to-read list and I can’t wait to see why everyone is talking about this novel.

Conclusion

The rest of this list is solid and if you aren’t a fan of sci-fi novels, then this list a good way to get into it. The Handmaid’s Tale is fantastic and Martha Wells’ The Murderbot series is impossible to put down once you start reading it!

These are the most read sci-fi books of 2025 so far and I love every novel that made an appearance. No matter what book you choose, you are in for a treat. If only every list was as good as this, then people would always have something to read. Happy reading!
