Whenever a list of the best fantasy books of all time is made, I always have to check it out and see what books made the list. And today, we will be looking at the best fantasy books according to fans. So, keep reading to find out what books made their list!

Unlike many lists, this list only decided to include series with more than three books in it. For that reason, classics like The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien didn’t make it. And I personally like this change because it lets lesser known series make an appearance that otherwise wouldn’t.

After browsing this list, I can say there are fantasy books I haven’t read or even heard of before today. This list was made by fans on the website Fantasy Book Reviews. The good news is that there’s new fantasy books to read but the bad news is that some series have way too many books in the series. You can check out the list below!

The Ten Best Fantasy Books

The Best Fantasy Series Chosen by Fans

The best fantasy series according to fans is A Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. I have read this novel in the past and while I thought it was good but I never really got into it. Maybe I will revisit it again and see if anything changes.

A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin

While I may be angry at George R.R. Martin, it has hard to deny just how incredible the A Song of Ice and Fire series is. I don’t think we will get this series completed before 2040 and that is just too long. If the series was completed, I think it may have gotten the top spot.

In third place is The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. This is a series that I tried getting into but just couldn’t even after reading three books in the series. Not every series is going to be beloved by fantasy fans equally and that is fine.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

We have all heard of Harry Potter and can agree that this series is one of the best fantasy series without a doubt. If it wasn’t aimed at children, it may have come first and for many readers here, it is one the first fantasy series they read.

One of my favorite series on this list is The Earthsea Cycle by Ursula Le Guin because it flips fantasy norms when very few people dared to do just that. Without this series, we may never have gotten Harry Potter or some other classic fantasy books that built upon themes introduced in this series.

Conclusion

Overall, I think this is a great list of fantasy series. This list is more so for fans of fantasy novels and even then, you will discover a few new novels. You can see the full list here. Did your favorite fantasy series make the list? Let us know in the comments below!
