Actor Jeremy Renner will be sharing details about his snowplow accident in his upcoming memoir My Next Breath.
The 54-year old has Renner’s account of the incident as well as what Renner learned as he recovered from the near-fatal injury. The memoir has been described as gripping” and “inspiring” by his publisher Flatiron Books.
“Jeremy writes in blistering detail about his accident and the aftermath,” says the book blurb. “This retelling is not merely a gruesome account of what happened to him; it’s a call to action and a forged companionship between reader and author as Jeremy recounts his recovery journey and reflects on the impact of his suffering.”
The Marvel actor was run over by a 14,300-lb. snowplow in Reno, Nev. And suffered blunt chest trauma as well as other severe injuries. Renner was trying to protect his nephew from the snowplow when he was run over by the snowplow.
The actor broke 38 bones and said that “half my face is metal. All the right side of my back is metal,” in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.
In another interview on May 2024, Renner said that the recovery will be a lifelong journey and something he has come to terms with since his recovery.
“I had to accept it for the rest of my life. There’ll be nothing normal or as it was prior to the accident,” he said. “By the way, I’m okay with that. It’s making my life better. I’m healthier because of it.”
“I get to focus more on my health and well-being than I ever did before because I have to,” the Marvel star added. “Recovery will be until I’m out of this old hot mess of a body. It was a way for me to really accept that it is going to be forever.”
The memoir will be released on April 29 and is can be preordered now.
