After a four-year hiatus, Brandon Sanderson returned with the fifth book in the Stormlight Archive series. Many people were calling this an Avengers level novel. And we will be reviewing this epic fantasy novel today!

Commentary

Brandon Sanderson is easily one of my favorite world builders and it has been an amazing journey to see what he has done in the Stormlight Archive series over the years. And the latest novel does not disappoint.
Wind and Truth doesn’t go the direction that a typical fantasy novel would go. Instead, Sanderson decides to bring themes such as therapy and self-discovery to push the novel forward. What I love about this novel is the dual representation of certain emotions and how one character tries to rise above them while another gives into these emotions.
This isn’t your typical fantasy tropes and not many authors would even get their novels published if they did but. But Sanderson has established himself as an incredible fantasy writer and has earned the trust of his fanbase to do so.
With all that happening, the plot is still moving forward as Sanderson wraps up the end to the first half of the Stormlight Archive. It is some of my favorite reading and Sanderson deserves a lot of credit for being able to write amazing characters that you care about as a reader.
The next book in the series won’t be released until 2030 and that is a long wait. But Sanderson has said that he wants to write consecutive novels and will do that after he is done writing the next Mistborn series books.
With Wind and Truth out as of a few days ago, it is finally time to move Stormlight to the back burner for a while. It was a fifteen-year-effort to get this sequence done, and I need some time off from the series. I do still love it, and consider it my opus, but writing on it is quite draining—and I’m ready for a break.
Brandon SandersonWe will be getting a Stormlight Archive spinoff,a Horneater novella following Rock which will be released in about 18 months according to Sanderson.
Conclusion
After waiting a couple of years for Wind and Truth to be released, I was happy with the result. The waiting was worth it and it is nice that some authors do take release dates seriously.
Wind and Truth is the perfect conclusion to the first arc and I can’t wait to see where Sanderson takes us to next. Happy reading!
