Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Book was available for purchase at Target over the Thanksgiving weekend and fans flocked in thousands, helping Swift sell over 814,00 copies over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The Eras Tour Book was only made available at Target, skipping even online retailers like Amazon. This is something only Taylor Swift can do because of her enormous star power.
This feat puts Swift in rare company as the only bigger nonfiction book released was Barack Obama’s presidential memoirs, A Promised Land, which sold 816,000 copies. And that was through all major outlets. On top of that, that was for a whole week while the data for The Eras Tour Book is only for the Thanksgiving weekend.
Swift released the book through her own publication Taylor Swift Publications, bypassing the typical formula of patterning with one of the major publications to release a book. That means that Swift will be getting a lot more of the profits and it also may be why she only partnered with Target.
The success of this book will create a formula that many other celebrities will try to imitate. But few celebrities have the same influence and a following as big as Taylor Swift. By now, this book has most likely sold over a million copies and will continue making Taylor Swift richer and one of the many reasons why she is a billionaire.
