The undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers (15-0) will be facing off against the reigning champions, the Boston Celtics today in the NBA Cup tournament. Everyone is excited to see if Cleveland will remain undefeated or will Boston give Cleveland their first loss of the 2024-2025 NBA season?

Nobody expected Cleveland to have the start that they did because they didn’t make any big moves in free agency. They did fire their head coach and hired Kenny Atkinson this off-season and it has led to the Cavaliers unlocking their potential and becoming the best team in the NBA. But the title for the best team in the NBA belongs to Jason Tatum and the Boston Celtics. That is why these two teams facing off is drawing a lot of interest.

I expected the Celtics to be the first seed and dominate the regular season like last year but Cleveland had other plans. The Cavs have shattered everyone’s expectations and look like the best team in the NBA. If they do beat the Celtics, the hype will be validated and the Cavs will be taken serious. But if they lose, then the Celtics will be considered the team to beat in the Eastern Conference no matter what seed they are.

Expect this game to feel like a playoff game. The NBA Cup has made teams play a lot harder and these games have been more competitive than they normally would have been around this time of the year. Still, I think most people will be focusing on the Cleveland Cavaliers undefeated record and want to see if it will remain intact or not.

My prediction is that the Celtics have the best chance of beating the Cavs but the Cavaliers have been very clutch and that should give them the edge and the win. This game will be close and whoever can execute better in clutch time will be the winner. And I think that will be the Cavs because Atkinson seems to always have a good play ready to go.

The last team to go undefeated for the the first 15 games was the 2015-2016 Golden State Warriors who went 24-0 before losing. The Cavaliers are in great company and should they beat the Celtics tonight, they have a shot at reaching at least 20 wins straight. But first, they have to get past the Celtics and show everyone that they are the best team in the East and the NBA.
