Classics and Must Read Books

The first book on the list is The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and I love this because people either love or hate this novel passionately. After rereading it, I do think it deserves the classic label and has a lot to offer. I will be surprised if it is still taught in schools going forward though.

The Underground Railroad is a modern classic in my opinion and should be read by all book lovers. Colson Whitehead is a generational talent and his novels are worth checking out, you won’t regret it. Anytime an author wins multiple Pulitzer Prize awards, then you know that they are worth reading!

Some authors take a decade or more to release a novel and release incredible novels that we can’t stop talking about. Donna Tartt is one of these authors and has written two memorable novels in The Secret History and The Goldfinch. While I do think The Secret History is the better of the two, The Goldfinch is still a fantastic read that is an adventure unlike anything else you will ever read.

Lastly, the final book on this novel that I am a big fan of is A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. Who knew that a novel about a prisoner staying in a hotel would be this incredible? Towles storytelling ability makes this a must read and his incorporation of Russian history makes A Gentleman in Moscow a novel that will stay with you long after you have read it.
